What is the problem of courting in secret?

Why do some dating hidden? A young man named David summed it up in a nutshell: "They know that their parents will not approve. So do not count for them." Jane mentions another possibility: "Dating is about hidden rebellion. If you think that is not being treated like the adult you think you are, you decide to do whatever and just not tell your parents."

Of course, you know the Bible says you should obey their parents. And if they think you should not date, certainly have good reasons for this. Still, do not be surprised if you have thoughts like:
I feel excluded because everyone but me girlfriend.
I like someone who is not my religion.
