Teens fell pressure to be thin
In advertisements, on television, in cinemas, on the clips, magazines, finally, the media consumed by adolescents what you see and stick-thin women are beautiful. This unattainable standard of beauty that makes almost 90% of American teenagers feel pressured to be skinny.
The data was released earlier this week. To reach the result thousand girls 13-17 years were interviewed via the Internet by Tru institute specializing in research on young people, for the Association of Girl Scouts of the USA.
Although the standard required of the girls, it seems that this is not what they would like to have as an example of beauty. For example, over 80% of girls said they would prefer to see natural photos of models, instead of images digitally altered or enhanced.
In addition, three quarters of them said they were more likely to buy clothes they see on models 'real' than in girls that border on anorexia.
After all, like clothes, shoes and accessories is part of the lives of these teens. Three quarters of them said they considered fashionable "really important." Besides the models and celebrities, other sources of inspiration for girls are colleagues, friends and relatives, according to research.
Another alarming research shows that one in three girls have starved or "closed" mouth to lose weight a few pounds. And there's more: nearly half know someone their age who has forced herself to vomit after eating and over a third said he knew some girl diagnosed with an eating disorder.
